Maples Elementary - Slated For a New Roof in 2011

     Maples Elementary is one of Royal Roofing’s 2011 Summer school projects. Moreover, because of the extreme detail, the roof system being installed, and the restoration effort involved, Maples is quickly becoming one of Royal Roofing Company’s 2011 premier undertakings.

      Rich in history, the Maples School, located in Dearborn, Michigan, was completed in 1930 and named after Fred E. Maples; a member and treasurer of the Dearborn Board of Education in the 1920’s. In the interest of preserving the facility’s historic characteristics, Royal Roofing Company was entrusted with restoring many of the buildings exterior extremities; beginning with a new slate roof system.

      The roof aspect consisted of completely removing the existing slate and all underlayment, down to the deck. After which a new “graduating exposure - four color - semi weathering” slate roof system was installed. Complimenting the slate, Royal Roofing fabricated custom copper gutters, panels, and saddles; for integration into the new roof system. The roof project totaled approximately 28,000 square feet, and took almost three full months to complete.
